I've tried the expensive reusable cone filters, but always come back to these paper filters. My coffee tastes better with these! I tried the brown unbleached ones once and that was a mistake - they definitely changed the flavor of the coffee a bit (and yes, I always rinse the filters and dump that water before I put the coffee in). Also, circle or square Chemex filters... makes no difference, they both work the same. Only difference is the shape at the top - they both filter the coffee exactly the same way!
